Le 23 juillet 1968, Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention investissent le Whisky a Go Go pour une nuit. Toute la soirée a été enregistrée en vue d’un éventuel projet d’album. Bien que des morceaux aient été publiés par Frank Zappa au fil des ans, un album live complet n’a jamais vu le jour, et les bandes sont restées au coffre pendant 55 ans. Aujourd’hui, les trois sets de cette mémorable soirée sortent enfin avec de nouveaux mixes.
